Negative Approach es una banda estadounidense de hardcore punk, formada en Detroit, Michigan, en 1981. La banda está considerado como uno de los pioneros del hardcore punk, sobre todo en la región del Medio Oeste. Al igual que la mayoría de bandas de hardcore, Negative Approach era poco conocido en su día fuera de su ciudad natal. Ahora es idolatrado en el rock underground de Detroit y la subcultura punk, considerada como una de las bandas de elite de la "vieja escuela", y sigue siendo influyente. Negative Approach inicialmente se separó en 1984 con el cantante John Brannon yendose a Laughing Hyenas, y luego a Easy Action, pero la banda se ha reformado a partir de 2006 y continúa de gira de manera esporádica.
